I've been a little obsessed with forehead bands (or forehead headbands or head wraps. Does anyone know what to call them?)I made this with elastic and some sparkley fabric. :) This is the tutorial I followed to make the flower:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaoAvy7RiKM&feature=related

Hey guys! Sorry I'm not updating this blog as often as I used too. Anyways, the other day I sewed this tote bag. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out! What do you think? :)

Last week, my two cousins wanted me to sew each of them something. To the right, are the two pieces I designed and sewed. The purple top has strips of glitter fabric on each of the shoulders. My cousin wanted the skirt to be related to Minnie Mouse so she chose the red and white polka dot fabric.

Since the correct logo was guessed (Chanel), I'm going to tell you about Coco Chanel. I watched a movie about Coco Chanel's life a while ago. She grew up in an orphanage with her sister. She learned how to sew and worked as a seamstress. While being a seamstress, she also sang at a cafe. The songs she sang gave her the nickname "Coco". Her real name is Gabrielle. With the help of a rich man, she opened a store. Her store originally sold hats. The man she loved died in a car accident. She never got married. Here is a link to two songs from the movie I watched (Coco Before Chanel)The actress is Audrey Tautou. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCF2vp_Io5s

Who can guess this logo? When the first person guesses the correct brand, I will share a little about the designer. (This designer has a really interesting life story!)

On my Summer To-Do List, I said "Sew an outfit that looks almost exactly like an outfit from any recent runway show." The outfit I chose is on the left. I sewed this top from Chloe's Fall 2012 Ready-To-Wear Collection. I still have to get red skinny jeans to match (there's no way I'm wearing baggy red pants!) I did make a few changes to my version. Do they look similar?

Today, I made a cardigan for a top I got from Kohls. This is an easy DIY for anyone with basic sewing skills! First, cut out a rectangle out of a fabric of your choice. (I got my fabric from Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts.) Make sure it's the length you want it. Then measure out how far apart the arm holes should be. I cut out arm holes on a scrap piece of paper, then traced it (with a fabric disappearing marker) onto the fabric. Next, cut out the arm holes. In order to put this in the washer, you will need to sew a hem on the cardigan. This way, the edges won't get ruined. Sewing the hem also gives it a more finished look.

What is a hem? https://www.google.com/search?sugexp=chrome,mod=0&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=what+is+a+hem#hl=en&q=hem&tbs=dfn:1&tbo=u&sa=X&ei=FLX4T6S4E4TErQGx9eGLCQ&sqi=2&ved=0CE8QkQ4&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=a2e370afc0354df8&biw=1366&bih=600

Since maxi dresses are so in style this season, I decided to sew one. I paired it with a belt from Kohls. It's not as flowy as I had imagined but it's alright! What do you think?

Today I saw a girl wearing Hello Kitty sunglasses. They had whiskers and a little bow on it.  Would you be caught wearing these kitty shades?
Hey everyone! I've decided to start a fashion blog. The reason I chose the name Fashion Princess is because I believe everyone deserves to feel like a princess in whatever they wear. If you don't feel beautiful in the clothes you're wearing, then you're in the wrong outfit! :)
