Fashion Quote #7
"Anyone can get dressed up and glamorous but it is how people dress in their days off that are the most intriguing."

I read a very interesting article this morning from Refinery 29. Refinery 29 is a blog that discusses anything from fashion to celebrities to food. Here is a link to the post: http://www.refinery29.com/fashion-secrets?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=fash. On the 3rd page of the slideshow, they say shoes are far too expensive for what they're worth. I had finished my swimsuit this morning and it got me thinking. Swimsuits are also overpriced. The swimsuit on the upper left is the swimsuit I made last year. The swimsuit on the upper right is the swimsuit I finished this morning. Both were around $25. There are many problems with both of them. Even if I were more skilled when it comes to sewing, the price would still be cheap. Nowadays, swimsuits for women can cost anything starting at about $40. This is kind of like gold. It has the value it has because we gave it that value. Gold could have just been a shiny metal that cost a few bucks.

I sewed this black dress after I became obsessed with studs. I ordered studs from Etsy that will arrive soon. I plan on adding the studs to either the sides of the dress or adding them to a belt that I can wear with it.

You could say my drawing skills have improved. The drawing on the left is from at least 3 years ago. It was one of my first designs. I really wasn't trying. Design 2 is from a couple years ago. I was actually trying this time. It may be difficult to see, but it's a mess. The left arm is bent at the elbow. The face is a weird shape. The eyes are slanted. The legs are way too short. The list goes on. Design 3 I designed today. I was trying to draw it the 9-heads way. According to 101 Things I Learned in Fashion School, the average adult is 7 1/2 heads tall, and a fashion figure is 9 heads tall. Unfortunately, I have serious issues drawing heads. They were two big in the first two eras of my designing experiences. Now, they are too small. Somebody help me!

I have been obsessing over my new idol, the model Coco Rocha. Coco Rocha is the queen of posing. She adds character to her photos unlike any other model. Check out her portfolio here: http://www.cocorocha.com/portfolio.html . You may also see her in the advertisement for White House Black Market. She was discovered Irish dancing at the age of 14. One of the most memorable moments of her career must have been opening Jean Paul Gaultier's 2007 Fall/Winter collection Irish dancing. Currently, she is a mentor on Oxygen's "The Face". "The Face" is a modeling competition show.
P.S. This is my 50th post!
